False eyelashes 101 with Alash Lashes

Follow Us

I am happy to say and announce that alash.com.au had been LIVE for 5 days now :)

After wearing probably hundreds of false eyelashes in my lifetime since I was 18 years of age, thinking back, a lot of my girlfriends are still 'too scared' or 'unsure' on how to wear eyelashes. Every time they would see me with false eyelashes on, they would always compliment but I never escape the question of "how did you do it?" or "was it hard to do? I'm too scared that I'm going to do it wrong".

I tell them the exact same thing I'm telling you now, "It's soooo easy to do. All you need to know are the steps, and once you understand it, it will take you less than 5 minutes to achieve full and longer eyelashes".

I know you will find a lot of videos on youtube on 'how to' put on false eyelashes, and they all vary in instructions. But remember the 3 things that are always the same:

1. Trim the lashes to fit your eye shape
2. Apply adhesive
3. Stick as close as to your lash line (NOT on your actual lashes as this will be very painful to remove afterwards, and we don't want that)

First, get to know your eye shape and choose the lashes that will be best suited to you. For example, if you have small eyes make sure your false eyelashes are more spread out and thin, otherwise it will look too heavy and un-natural. If you have a round or larger eyes, then you can go for the dramatic lashes. Also keep in mind the kind of 'look' you want to achieve with your false eyelashes.

If you check out Alash lashes, they have been categorised them by style, personality and occasions thus eliminating on the confusion of having to choose which eyelashes are for which.

Once you found your favourite eyelashes, the next step is applying them. Now, don't forget to always use adhesive in applications as there are nothing worse than falling lashes whilst you are out and about (trust me, this had happened to me a few times unfortunately).

To help you visualise on the things you need for your eyelashes applications, I have taken a pictures for you in this guide

You will need the eyelashes off course, I've selected 'Lychee fantasy' to use with Ardell LashGrip adhesive in black, tweesers and eyelash curlers (optional).

'Lychee fantasy' is perfect day wear lashes as the hair are quiet thin, and the length of each hair are different in length thus it will create more of a natural look. And remember that if you purchase 100% real human hair lashes, the result will always be light and natural.

If you are a beginner, I highly recommend using tweezers to remove your false eyelashes from the packaging to prevent any damage. Always start from one end corner, pulling gently and carefully.

The next step is measuring the eyelashes against your eye and ensuring they fit just right without any excess. I've also found applying a thin layer of eyeliner will help in the ease of applying false eyelashes as you can use this as an indication/guide of where to place your eyelashes on.

Then trim your eyelashes accordingly, remember to NEVER over trim the eyelashes you don't want to have half looking false eyelashes on your eyes

Next, apply adhesive. We chose the 'dark' adhesive as we used eyeliner in this demonstration and this glue will dry off in a dark colour. Squeeze out a small amount of the glue and always start from one end, and then move across the strip, spreading the glue evenly (just enough and not too thick) ensuring all area are covered.

If you see the above picture, you can see the thin layer of glue on the strip, that is the recommended amount needed.

You are now ready for application. Place the strip eyelashes onto your eye, as close as to your lash line as possible (avoiding your real lashes). If you do wear eyeliner, place the lashes on where you drew the line closest to your lash line. See below picture, and don't worry, the glue will dry off without any marks.

Leave them on without opening your eyes for at least 15 seconds. If you are applying the lashes by yourself (like me), always do it in front of close mirror and keep one eye open so you can see where you're placing the lashes.

Once you have completed both side of your eyes, the results are beautiful, natural, fuller and longer eyelashes.

After care tips:

1. Never sleep with your false eyelashes as doing so will damage them
2. Never wear your false eyelashes for more than 24 hours, this will tire your eyes
3. Never shower or wet your false eyelashes, again this will damage them
4. Always place your false eyelashes back in their original package to protect them from dust and to retain its shape for future use.
5. Remove any glue from your false eyelashes where possible. The cleaner and the more care you give them, the longer you can re-use them.
