Brows have been another obsession of mine lately, and it doesn't help when everyone I follow on social media are either MUA, beauty bloggers or people who are just as obsessed with makeup and cosmetics.
Off course when I first started this obsession, my brows are definitely no where near perfect. It took daily morning practice when I go to work and watching and observing those who I think definitely nailed it in the brows department.
My makeup style is more natural and is more towards 'the no make up look' as people will stare if I go into the office with a lot of makeup on, as if I'm going to a photoshoot. So below are my recommendation and methods I'm sharing with you of how I achieve good eyebrows for my everyday makeup routine.
The more I obsess, the more I discover the number of products available to create the perfect brow! But for me, the items that I must have to create my good brows are:
1. Eyebrow brush (similar looking brush to your mascara brush)
2. Concealer
3. Eyebrow pencil ( I use dark brown)
4. 3CE Eyebrow powder (which you can find here - http://www.alash.com.au/c/17/accessories)
5. Brow highlighter (either in a powder form, or a pencil form)
For the purpose of making this blog a bit easier to understand, I created a little pictorial
So let's go through this pictorial:
1. I always brush my brows before putting anything on, this ensures the foundation of creating a neat brow and that all your brow hair are going in one consistent direction
2. I brush on some concealer, which will help to set and prepare my brows to take the brow powder
3. I line the outside shape of my brow, always follow the shape of your natural brow which you then enhance by creating close to a straight line outside your brow shape to create a 'colour in' section
4. As you can see, in this picture, my brows are already starting to take shape
5. Take your 3CE eyebrow powder, I'm using 'Mannequin' which is perfect for my brow colour
6. I start filling in the space between the top and bottom of my brows using '1' and '3' from my brow kit. I then finished it off with '2' the black brow powder by going over the lines lightly and then creating a curve at the end of my brow
7. I take an angled brush, in this picturial, i used a brow highlighter powder to highlight the section underneath my bottom brow line, especially on the curve section. Highlighting your brows are so important as like it's name, will highlight your brows and make them pop out a bit more
8. I do the same on the top of my brow section with the brow highlighter powder
9. DONE!
Off course there are so many ways of doing your brows, more complicated ones using more products or techniques. For me, this is the best way to do eyebrows for the natural look and especially when I'm time constraint to do my makeup for work.
I hope my advice or 'tutorial' helps you finding your own way of perfecting your eyebrows.

We live in a (plastic) world - plastic vs real
I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for. If you paid $2.50 for quick sushi take away roll vs a $10 gourmet sushi dish, you get the same type of food, however one will taste better and is made with fresher ingredients. Or if you paid $10 for a cotton / synthetic T-Shirt vs a $50 cashmere T-shirt, they're both shirts, one is made with better quality and better comfort when wearing. I hope my comparison makes sense (lol).
I've been thinking for a long time, how will girls know the difference between cheap quality false eyelashes compared to high quality human hair false eyelashes? I keep saying to myself, yes, I should write about it! This was 6 months ago, I finally got off my butt and here I am.
I love false lashes, and makeup in general. I do wish I have more time to spend in the things i love, rather than a 9-5 office job, however unfortunately this is my current situation.
I fell in love with the concept of false eyelashes, when I bought my first pair from Priceline it was the Manicare brand at $9.95 solely to use for going out on weekends. This was 7 years ago. Now you can get real human hair false eyelashes from priceline from $14.95 and above.
If you ever wondered, how you can get a $1 bulk buy of false eyelashes from eBay and other brands such a 'Ardell' and Manicare is ranging from $8.95 - $24.95, the answer is simple. Cheap lashes are made from cheap material. Most False eyelashes you can purchase off eBay are all made from synthetic (plastic), which are very stiff, uncomfortable and like hard plastic, it doesn't move. Your eyelashes are the same as your hair, they're REAL! So why would you put plastic false eyelashes on them? Like hair extensions, if you put synthetic vs real human hair, i'm sure you can see a huge difference in movement, comfort and the overall look.
Earlier this year for my cousin's wedding, as part of my gift, I gave her a pair of Alash Lashes (100% Real human hair) to wear on her wedding day. The good thing is, she LOVES the lashes and she looks absolutely beautiful all made up in her wedding dress :) the lashes were just the icing on the cake , however unfortunate for her mum, the Make Up Artist (MUA) gave her a pair of her stash, which is the cheap plastic material you get in bulk online! And I can tell you, the difference is huge.
So, I hope what I write below will give you a better understanding on the difference of lashes and why you pay the price you pay for.
My wonderful younger sis, volunteered (or forced to lol) to model the synthetic vs Alash Lashes 100% real human hair lashes.
Here is a pair of cheap synthetic lashes I got online from China, I know they're synthetic why? Not only because they're so cheap and cost $1, but because:
1. They're extremely stiff, they don't move very easily
2. The colour of the lashes is very shiny black (nature of plastic will cause some sort of shiny effect, think of synthetic leather jacket, they're quite shiny)
3. The band is very thick
Just by identifying the above 3 points, you will know and see the difference. I think of them as 'imitation' lashes, just like synthetic extensions, 'plashes' plastic lashes.
Now on another eye, I will be using Alash 'Skyfall' Lashes which are made with 100% Real Human hair. How can you tell?
1. The lashes strand is very soft, and move-able, if you run your fingers on them gently, they will move gently as just like your hair
2. Very natural looking, no shiny effect at all
3. The band is thin
The result is below, can you tell the difference? Before you scroll down, try to have a guess which one is which.
The top eye is synthetic (did you guess right?), which is very dark, shiny and stiff, the lashes strand stays as it is and there is no movement. The bottom eye is Alash Skyfall Lashes, very natural and replicates real eyelashes as it is made with real human hair.
Cheap plastic (synthetic) lashes are usually heavier as they are made from plastic, and can cause discomfort on your eye. They are also a lot less flexible, and can give out a 'plastic' look.
Real human hair lashes, are very light and comfortable to wear, as they are made with real strands of hair which is natural and light in nature. They will also give the most natural looking false eyelashes and add that extra 'oomph' to your makeup. I think they're a cheaper alternative to eyelash extension as most of them, well, Alash Lashes is re-usable up to 5 times (just saying).
I used to do eyelash extension for a year, not only are they high maintenance, causes a hole in my wallet, they also rip my real lashes off :(
Here is a side view photo of the lashes, again, can you tell the difference? The bottom picture is synthetic, and they are very stiff and plastic-y looking.
** To see the products used for the eyebrows, come back next week :) or follow on facebook and yes, I am obsessed with brows too **
I hope I shared something with you today that you can take away when buying your next pair of false eyelashes. If not, well you get to see pictures of my beautiful sister :)
But again, with everything in life, it's all about preferences. The best way is to try different pair of lashes and feel the way on your eyes, and be your own judge :-)
If you do decide to try Real human hair false eyelashes, can I suggest you try Alash Lashes (not bias at all) haha.. No, but seriously, I swear by my lashes, and you'll know why if you give them a go.
With so many different types for different occassions, try it for your next lashes adventure, all lashes are $10.95 (aud).
